Accra, Ghana: In a move aimed at fortifying Ghana’s agricultural landscape, the National Seed Trade Association of Ghana (NaSTAG) has forged a strategic alliance with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, pledging its full support to the government’s ambitious Feed Ghana programme.

Led by President Dr Amos Rutherford Azinu, the NaSTAG delegation engaged in high-level discussions with Minister Eric Opoku and his team, including Deputy Minister John Dumelo, Technical Adviser Kwasi Etu-Bonde, and Chief Director Paul Siameh. The meeting hailed as a pivotal moment for Ghana’s seed sector, underscored the critical role of public-private collaboration in achieving national food security.

NaSTAG reaffirmed its commitment to the Feed Ghana initiative, outlining collaborative strategies designed to address the nation’s agricultural challenges. The association emphasised the importance of strengthening partnerships between the government and the seed industry, highlighting their collective expertise in tackling the complex issues facing Ghana’s farmers.

Minister Opoku expressed confidence in the burgeoning partnership, stating that enhanced cooperation with NaSTAG could significantly boost Ghana’s agricultural productivity and self-sufficiency goals. He stressed that a robust public-private partnership was essential for the development of sustainable food systems, capable of meeting the nation’s growing demands.

Dr. Azinu, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the invitation, acknowledging the swift coordination by Chief Director Siameh, the warm reception from Deputy Minister Dumelo, and the valuable insights provided by Technical Adviser Etu-Bonde.

The meeting signifies a concerted effort to align industry expertise with national development objectives, laying a solid foundation for a resilient agricultural system. This strategic engagement is seen as a crucial step towards fostering sustainable food production and ensuring the effective implementation of agricultural policies across Ghana.
